Austria at COP30 in Belem, Brazil: Joint Climate Declaration

Austria participated as part of the EU delegation at the 30th UN Climate Conference (COP30) in Belem, Brazil, from November 10-21, 2025. The Austrian Ministry for Agriculture, Climate and Environment (BMLUK) confirmed Austria’s engagement: ‘Austria and the EU pursue constructive and partnership-based cooperation with all states to make COP30 a success.’ The Austrian Klimaallianz NGO coalition demanded Austria push for a strong EU NDC and adequate climate finance contributions.

COP30 was chaired by the Brazilian Presidency, which organized the Belem Climate Summit as a preparatory leaders’ meeting and launched the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF). Austria signed the ‘Belem Declaration’ — a voluntary commitment signed by 24 nations including Austria, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, and Costa Rica — in support of a just energy transition away from fossil fuels.
